Popular PC Game Frostpunk Is Set to Release on Xbox One and PS4

Popular PC city-building survival game, Frostpunk is releasing on Xbox One and PS4 on October 11th according to the studio behind it: 11 bit Studios. The developers haven’t simply ported this game to console. It has been designed to run natively on gamepads, whether you’re playing on the Xbox One or PS4. This includes features such as an express menu, choice-wheel’s and other UI design changes necessary for the proper strategy gamepad experience.

Frostpunk has sold around 1.5 million units on PC, 250,000 of which were within the first three days of release. Frostpunk includes simulation elements familiar to city-builders and has a heavy focus on strategy. Gamers act as the leader of the last civilization on Earth in a frozen post-apocalyptic landscape where survival is a struggle. The upscaled icons and top-down view for precise building placement are few of what’s sure to be many design changes made transitioning Frostpunk from PC to console. The game received significant praise on PC, winning “Strategy Title of the Year” at the Australian Gaming Awards, and nominated for several others. “From day one we knew we wanted to bring Frostpunk to consoles,” said Senior Lead Designer at 11 bit Studios Jakub Stokalski. The game’s console launch is priced at $29.99 USD digitally with physical editions coming to Europe on October 18th and America on October 22nd which will cost an additional $5.
