Niantic Announces Pokemon GO Ultra Bonus Event Featuring Mewtwo

Niantic Celebrates the End of Summer By Unleashing a Powerful Pokemon Unto the World

Niantic has announced a new “Ultra Bonus Event” to cap off the summer featuring all of Kanto’s most legendary Pokemon, as well as some regional Pokemon who haven’t been available in most of the world yet.

Pokemon GO Ultra Bonus Challenge Mewtwo Niantic

Starting this Thursday, September 13th at 1PM PDT/ 4PM EDT, the three legendary birds of Kanto – Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres – will be available to challenge in raid battles with a chance to be shiny until September 20th.

Then, for the first time ever, Mewtwo will be available to challenge in raid battles until October 23rd.

On top of all that, Pokemon from the Kanto region will appear more often globally, and regional Pokemon Farfetch’d (Asia), Kangaskhan (Australia), Mr. Mime (Europe), and Tauros (North America) will be available in 7km eggs until the end of September.

It’s a good time to be a Pokemon GO player, as Johto region legendary Celebi just kicked off the game’s second Special Research tasks questline, Niantic recently opened up about when they are hoping to get PvP into the game, and all signs are pointing to the inclusion of Gen IV Pokemon sometime this fall.
