No Man’s Sky Video Leaker Responds to Sean Murray’s Pleas

No Man’s Sky Video Leaker Responds to Sean Murray’s Pleas

It’s been a tough few weeks for Sean Murray and the team at Hello Games. What should be a celebration in the lead up to the release of one of the single most anticipated games of the year has been a bit stressful for Murray and company. First was the accusations of a stolen ‘superformula’ that Murray ultimately responded to by calling it a non-event as No Man’s Sky didn’t even use the formula in question. Next up was copies leaked to the public that not only sold for astronomical prices, but also had one user making videos to share with the public.

In a tweet to anyone and everyone interested in No Man’s Sky, Murray pleaded with them not to spoil the experience for themselves.

Now, in what would likely be considered a surprising move, the leaker in question has not only responded to Murray but also decided to back down from sharing any further information. Redditor, Daymeeuhn paid an obscene amount of money for the game and despite wanting to share it he also tried to look at it from the side of the developers. In fact, during an interview with Kotaku not only did he address the fact that he was lucky enough to have the disposable cash to purchase the game but he also made comments about feeling a bit guilty disrespecting the hard work of Hello Games. This is what he had to say on the matter via Reddit and Kotaku;

That’s it from me video-wise. Hello Games and Sean don’t like it, it’s giving me a headache dealing with the fallout, I don’t want to be the guy that spoiled all this cool shit, and I’m just leaving it at that! But for now, I’m going to just play the game, keep to myself and enjoy it.

I’m only a couple hours in, barely touched a few planets and already I’ve had many F*** YEAH moments. In the one hand, I’d love to share those with you – but in the other hand, Sean is right… why not just wait and experience them first hand? I dunno.

I expected Sean to tweet negatively about it because, let’s face it, it’s his job to… But I’ll admit, after watching so many of his interviews and knowing how cool of a guy he seems, it did make me feel a bit guilty. It wasn’t the sole reason for my decision, but it was certainly a factor.

I will do a text-only post with first impressions once I’m much further in, and yes I will Spoiler tag it and answer ANY questions people want to ask, but there will be no screenshots or videos. Text only from here on out, my friends. It’s a compromise respectful to the boundaries in place, and I’m just going to accept it.

No man's sky

All in all there really isn’t a ton of damage done to No Man’s Sky or its coming release. It is nice to know that not only is the experience apparently going to be mind blowing, but that there’s still some decent people out there who understand the hard work that goes into development and will back down when clearly they could have continued to take advantage of their opportunity. Good on you, Daymeeuhn!

No Man’s Sky is coming to the PlayStation 4 on August 9, 2016, in North America and the 10th in Europe. On PC, it will release worldwide on August 12th.
