4. Evil West
If you’re a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or the Wild West, Evil West is up your alley. Whether you play with a friend or jump into this narrative-driven campaign solo the goal remains the same: eliminate the vampire hordes and become the unsung hero of the Wild West. Upgrade weapons and special combat perks along the way and blast those blood suckers into oblivion. Evil West is bloody, it’s quick and it’s a hell of a good time! Those are all the reasons it’s ranked right in the middle of the best shooters of 2022.
3. Neon White
Neon White is a quick first-person shooter that takes place in…Heaven? You play as White, competing with other assassins from Hell for a chance to earn a permanent spot in Heaven. But it’s not just a FPS title, it’s a combination of puzzle, strategy and card-based games as well. Play those Soul Cards right and you’ll earn the highest scores. Each level is replayable, addictive and full of secrets. Neon White really is the perfect balance of the best from each of its core genres. Which is exactly why it landed in the top 3 on our list.
2. Destiny 2
I was just as surprised as you might be to see that Destiny 2 takes the second spot on this list. A whole 5 years after it was released and it’s ranked higher than most of the new games from 2022! Thanks to multiple new seasons, like Season of Plunder, and content the entire player base is reinvigorated. Combat might be the same but there’s more to play than ever before and it just keeps getting better. Bungie is keeping the legend alive with rapid and explosive gunfights both in missions and in PvP where players unlock a never-ending list of gear, weapons and collectables as a result. The grind really is still alive and well and with Lightfall incoming next year there’s more content coming down the pipe!
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Without a doubt, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the best shooter of 2022. But you’re not really surprised, are you? I’m sure you knew what game would take the top spot when you clicked to read more. And why? The campaign is a work of art, Warzone 2.0 is exciting and frenetic, and Invasion offers up a calmer experience with a mix of PvE and PvP. Multiplayer is a good time and you’ll feel that overwhelming sense of satisfaction while you’re kicking ass and taking names. Overall there’s a bunch of variety to help make everything feel fresh. That said, Modern Warfare II is still very much COD and as Alex said in his review, “If you’re a fan, you’ll be buying it. If you’re a relapsed fan, you’ll likely come back.”
