The Worst
Metal Wolf Chaos XD

Despite the hope that Metal Wolf Chaos XD would be full of frantic and glorious carnage, the game instead provides something of a slow, methodical and lackluster experience instead. While there are some definite saving graces of the game, including its aim system and large weapon variety, this modernized re-release of the original 2004 mech shooter from none other than FromSoftware is just plain disappointing. In fact, unless you’re a huge fan of mech titles and have lots of experience with those developed by FromSoftware, you’re going to quickly notice Metal Wolf Chaos XD is suffering from a ton of issues, mainly an identity crisis. Though this isn’t the worst mech game out there, it dashes fan’s hopes of something great. Sitting at a 65 Metacritic average, it’s painstakingly obvious this re-release isn’t anything special.
Vicious Circle

Rooster Teeth makes its gaming debut with Vicious Circle and though the original premise and trailers looked not only funny, but interesting as well, this multiplayer shooter misses its mark. Set to add something a bit different to the genre, this multiplayer shooter pits mercenaries against each other and a horrible creature to see who will come out on top. The title lives up to its name, but unfortunately not for reasons within the game, but for how you’ll feel playing it. You’ll feel trapped in this vicious circle of wanting more content to sink your teeth into and being unable to do so. The overwhelming consensus from critics and users alike is that the release of Vicious Circle was preemptive and it would’ve been wise to spend more time in development. Sitting at 57 on Metacritic, there’s a lot of improvement to be had here. “Taking all of the technical problems with this game into account it does feel this foundation could be formed into a much more cohesive game as it progresses.”
Black Desert (PS4)

Black Desert, a well-known and expansive MMORPG, has just been released for the PlayStation 4 and though it promises rich gameplay and fast-paced action, it falls a bit flat. Fans of MMORPG titles know that the bread and butter of the genre lies within the quests and story line. Imagine our disappointment then when Black Desert turns out to be just another painstaking title that simply feels like a monotonous grind rather than a deep dive into a rich and engaging story. Though the game looks and feels amazing, and the customizable sandbox experience works well, there isn’t a whole lot here to keep players interested long term. Once you put your controller down and stop playing Black Desert, you might be ought to simply forget about it.
