The Worst

State of Decay 2

With the Xbox One constantly under criticism regarding its lack of exclusives, each game that comes to the platform is undoubtedly scrutinized. While State of Decay 2 has promising core systems, its generic setup and overall jank disappointed us despite our excitement for the game. In our review, we found that “although there’s a very competent core loop and entertaining resource management sim somewhere within State of Decay 2, it’s really, really, broken. Unacceptably so.”

The Watchmaker

The Watchmaker is a puzzle adventure title with a premise that puts players in the role of an inventor who must fix the flow of time. Despite this fantastic premise and a matching, focused aesthetic, sloppy movement controls and incredibly stressful gameplay turn us off from the game. In our review, we found that “You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll put a tiny crack in the side of your controller.”

Animal Super Squad

Animal Super Squad is a physics-based adventure title, with the primary objective of taking your favorite animal from one side of the map to the other. While this may sound a bit simple, the game contains a level editor and allows for community created levels to be shared. Though in theory, this could lead to some interesting levels, we found that the gameplay was uninspired, its replay value is dependent on the community, and that “overall, Animal Super Squad just isn’t all that interesting to play.”
