Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 14 Fighters That Need To Be Included as DLC

14 Fighters Who Could Join Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC

This is the second time Nintendo has offered up DLC characters for Super Smash Bros, and the last round of DLC fighters (Cloud, Ryu, etc) were huge curveballs, delivering third-party fighters we never could have guessed would grace the Battlefield. Nintendo again blew us away by offering every single previous fighter to return in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and told us there would be five DLC characters we would not expect but everybody would want, starting with the reveal of Joker from Persona.

This has set the internet on fire as we all try to figure out who else could make their way to Smash, as bringing over a first party Sony character opens the door for countless possibilities. We’ve taken a look and scoured the internet to find 14 characters who – through wild speculation and a little bit of logic – could easily be new additions to the Smash Bros franchise!

14. 2B – Nier Automata

Nier Automata is one of those games that continues to impress. Released rather quietly during a heavy launch period, Nier soon exploded and found its way cross console, and with the recent announcement that 2B would be making her way to Soul Calibur, why not bring her to Smash? Her aesthetic could easily blend in with a number of other fighters and given the abundance of spirits that buff sword related characters, this feels like the time for an even heftier boost in their appearance.

13. Geralt of Rivia – The Witcher

Granted this is probably the longest of long shots on this list, Geralt has not only recently appeared in Soul Calibur and is making his way to Monster Hunter, his own story gives him the perfect narrative to jump between games – namely – Geralt hates portals, and yet he continually seems to find himself being pulled through them. Maybe it would be over-saturation, maybe CD Projekt Red wants to put all that Geralt motion capture to good use, either way you can’t deny the Butcher of Blaviken would be fantastic in Smash.

12. Monster Hunter – Monster Hunter World

The Monster Hunter franchise doesn’t have a particular hero, rather a voiceless protagonist you control. Creating a generic hero for Smash would be easy, with each of the costume variants being a number of different armor sets. Monster Hunter has only grown in popularity since the launch of Monster Hunter World and such a character would most likely play similar to Link with a little bit of Shulk, offering gadgets as well as a variety of fighting styles.

11. ??? – Soul Calibur

A bit of a cheating suggestion and the last of our less-than-likely options, the fact is Soul Calibur has so many potential fighters to bring to the franchise that any one of them could make for a great representative! Astaroth? Nightmare? Sophitia? Cervantes? Ivy? Well… Ivy may not be very kid friendly… But you get the idea. Soul Calibur recently launched a new game in the series and using a platform like DLC into a fighting game has always been a great way for cross-promotion. Is it likely? Probably not, but would it be cool? Absolutely.
