Hunt: Showdown Won’t Have a Leaderboard for a While
Hunt: Showdown devs have decided to ditch the game’s current leaderboard system. It has come to light that the one in place right now does not work well with their original vision. Fortunately, they are soon going to replace it with a better-working one.
“We wanted to make you all aware that with Update 1.9 we will be removing the current iteration of the leaderboard system,” developer Crytek wrote.
“Leaderboards are an important feature of Hunt: Showdown,” devs added. “However, we feel that the current version is not in line with the original vision we have for recognizing the best of the best Hunters.”
This decision seemed to go well with its community. “Based on several factors including feedback we have received from the community,” devs continued. “We feel that now is the best time to deactivate this feature while we work on a better solution.”
As previously mentioned, the leaderboard will disappear with Hunt: Showdown’s Update 1.9. It is worth noting, however, that players will still be able to take a look at their stats. This information will remain visible on players’ profiles. Hopefully, Crytek can finally finish the new system that they are already working on.
It would seem that the main reason why they decided to improve it are the game’s “past issues with exploits and the focus on KD over quality solo and team play.” Multiple fans think otherwise. They feel that getting rid of the leaderboard does not really negate the problem. They want devs to take a step further and remove KD statistics entirely.
“We do not have a time frame on when a new version of the leaderboards will be added back to Hunt: Showdown,” devs added. “But, we will be sure to keep everyone updated when that time comes.”
