Jump Force Jumps off Shelves
Bandai Namco’s controversial fighter Jump Force is being removed from physical and digital stores in August of next year.
Jump Force has been in the news a lot for all the wrong reasons since its release back in 2019. The game was met with appalling reviews on launch, and the developers have never really improved on anything. The gameplay is very wonky, the character’s designs are off-putting and the dialogue in the story mode is poorly written to name a few common complaints. On top of all of that, the game is now being removed for unknown reasons.
The only thing Jump Force really had going for it was its roster. The roster is made up of the most popular characters from the Japanese manga company Shonen Jump. Characters such as Goku from Dragon Ball, Luffy from One Piece, Naruto from Naruto: Shippuden and many more are featured as playable fighters in the game. Jump Force also gained additional characters through DLC. Although, fans speculate that the game’s massive roster might be the reason why it’s getting pulled.
Seeing that Bandai Namco has remained silent on the topic, it’s up to fans to speculate about what could have happened. The most popular theory is a simple one. Bandai Namco won’t be renewing the licensing rights next year.
Can you really blame them? The game has been memed and laughed at since its launch from Youtubers reacting to the horrible cutscenes to Reddit threads ripping apart its story. No one seemed to enjoy it, so why bother renewing the license?
Not only is Bandai Namco pulling the game from physical and digital shelves, but they are also shutting down its online support sometime next year.
