Starfield Will Be ‘More Realistic’ Than Other Bethesda RPGs

Starfield ‘Is a Universe, Not Just a Game,’ According to Devs

Starfield’s latest trailer was just released and it gave fans a whole new look at the upcoming sci-fi epic. The game looks pretty much similar to the other RPGs developed by Bethesda. However, its devs have revealed that they are taking a very different approach this time around.

This is a more grounded game and a grounded setting about exploration,” Art Director Matt Carofano stated. “I think that gives us a different take on how we make everything.”  This new approach is what the team have latched onto when they are “making new areas, making environments, making characters” for Starfield.

The mechanics of the world are entirely different, but there are similarities,” Game Director Todd Howard added. “I think that those are the things we like.”

Just like the other RPGs that Bethesda released prior to Starfield, exploration will still be at the core of the game. However, they have hugely considered the game’s more realistic, scientifically solid setting.

It is a universe, not just a game,” Howard continued. The newly released trailer shows a lot of concept art pertaining to astronaut food and other relatively mundane things that contribute to making Starfield more authentic and believable among the masses.

I also think that because it is based in a more realistic atmosphere, you have a lot of people on our team who are super into certain things—like robotics or engineering,” Studio Director Angela Browder added. “They can use this lifetime of knowledge they have gathered and then use it in their work.

Howard added that the “technology has changed” for Starfield. “So, our expectations when loading up a game like ‘Okay, I am going to step out and there is going to be this moment,’” he said. “Us being able to do that and have it feel new every generation, every game, is something that is really special about what we do.”
