Final Sendoff to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Fan Favorite Sora
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo’s crossover fighting game for the Switch, has just announced its final DLC character to be Sora, the protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series. Joining other DLC characters such as Persona’s Joker and Final Fantasy’s Cloud, Sora will be coming from another famous crossover game, Kingdom Hearts, which brings together famous Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix IPs.
Sora is the fan-favorite choice for the Super Smash franchise: in 2015, five years ago, a survey sent around the time of Super Smash Bros.’s release for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS placed Sora as the top requested fighter. For those who don’t know, Kingdom Hearts is a popular JRPG series that brings famous Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Pixar characters from Toy Story and other series, and Square Enix characters from the Final Fantasy and other series. As such, Sora must have been quite difficult for Nintendo to acquire because they would have to use the IP of not one, but two major companies.
Sora will be another sword-based fighter, albeit with his iconic Keyblade. In addition, he can use magic spells, such as Blizzaga and Thundaja. Although only details about his move set have been revealed, the official Nintendo description of his fighting style describes him as a fighter with “light and soft” movements and “powerful, combo-based attacks.” In other news, the famed Doom Slayer of classic FPS fame will be added as a Mii Fighter costume of the Gunner class, as well as Octoling Wig and Judd Hat.
