With the start of July 2020 comes the end of June 2020, and with it, the first half of the year. As we move full steam ahead toward the next generation of console gaming, we take a moment to look back on the best and worst games of June 2020.
The Best
Desperados III
Desperados III flew relatively low under the radar, but emerges as one of the best games of June 2020. As a hardcore tactical game set in the Wild West, the game’s genre and setting already make it unique enough to stand out. With its challenging nature and interesting narrative, it comes as no surprise that the game stands out above others. In our review, we concluded that “while the style of the game might not be for everyone, for those that enjoy this genre, they’ll be in for an absolute treat.”
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
Somewhat surprisingly, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is one of the best releases of June, and for good reason. Whether you prefer older games or more recent classics, this collection of games is sure to have something for everyone. Some examples of the games included are Chess, Chinese Checkers, Shogi, and Toy Football. In our review, we stated that “this is a game collection that is both accessible and easy to pick up and play, yet surprisingly chock-full of enriching content like How to Play guides that will make you want to dive deeper into each of the games and learn about them as you do.”
The Last of Us Part II
As one of the most anticipated sequels in recent memory, The Last of Us Part II has earned a 100 from us here at COGconnected. The Last of Us Part II continues the narrative told within the original game, featuring some of the best gameplay and graphics on the PlayStation 4. With its memorable characters, strong gameplay, and emotional narrative, we concluded: “An astounding technical marvel, The Last of Us Part 2 deftly weaves diverse exploration and fun combat into the mix, resulting in a truly brilliant package.”
