Active Matter Just Got Its First Major Update Titled ‘Fire Walk’

New Location and Weapons Await in Active Matter

Gaijin Entertainment, together with the Matter Team, has released the first major update for its hardcore online shooter Active Matter. Titled Fire Walk, the update is now live and introduces a wide range of new content, technical improvements, and gameplay enhancements that deepen the game’s intense survival-focused experience.

The headline addition is a brand new industrial location called The Dam. Designed around heavy concrete structures and dangerous open spaces, this area pushes players into high-risk encounters while encouraging careful movement and tactical planning. Alongside the new map, Fire Walk adds fresh monsters and environmental anomalies that make exploration more unpredictable and combat even more demanding.

The update also significantly expands the game’s arsenal. Players can now use weapons such as the M249 machine gun, Origin 12 shotgun, RPG 7 rocket launcher, SVDM sniper rifle, AEK 971 and AN 94 Abakan assault rifles, and the PP 19 01 submachine gun. The developers also refined weapon handling with the introduction of adjustable zeroing distances, optional muzzle brakes, and flash suppressors, allowing for greater control and customization in firefights.

Defensive equipment has also received attention. New titanium armor plates improve survivability, while EDH Gen V and TFMK I helmets introduce active hearing protection, adding another layer of realism to combat encounters.

Beyond new content, Fire Walk improves the overall presentation of Active Matter. Interface updates, smoother animations, and enhanced visual effects make the game feel more polished and responsive. A new trailer showcases these additions and highlights the darker, more dangerous tone of the update. Active Matter is currently available for purchase on the Gaijin Store, with full patch details listed on the official website.
