Time to Go Big in Active Matter
The hardcore online shooter Active Matter has received a major content drop with its latest update, titled ‘Gigastructure’. Developer Gaijin Entertainment and the Matter Team have introduced a range of new features, headlined by two expansive locations designed to push players to their limits.
At the center of the update is the Gigastructure itself, a massive and oppressive environment inspired by Soviet-era architecture, but warped into something far more hostile. It offers a mix of danger and reward, encouraging careful exploration. Alongside it, the newly added Park area presents a contrasting experience, blending overgrown nature with eerie anomalies. Set between Shchegolsky and Dogorsk, this zone features a sprawling greenhouse and favors aggressive tactics, with fire-based weapons proving especially effective.
A new PvP experience, Hired Ops mode, also joins the game. This mode focuses on large-scale battles where teams fight to control key points across wide maps. Players can deploy vehicles, turrets, and even call in airstrikes or unleash monsters to disrupt opponents. Respawns now occur in synchronized waves, adding a strategic layer to engagements.
The update expands the arsenal as well, introducing weapons suited for different combat styles. Close-range fighters gain access to submachine guns like the Gepard and PP-2000, while long-range players can utilize rifles such as the VSSK “Vykhlop” and M24. Additional options like the EV-MG machine gun and APS automatic pistol further diversify combat.
Finally, the update significantly raises the stakes. The game’s “high risk, high reward” system now includes harsher permadeath penalties, where players risk losing their progress entirely, making every decision in Active Matter more intense than ever.
