Streets of Rage 4 Update Improves Survival Mode and Co-op

Rage With Friends

There was a decades long gap between the original trilogy and Streets of Rage 4, which came out in 2020. It received a major DLC called Mr. X Nightmare a year later, but the game has been pretty quiet since then. However, last week, developer Dotemu released a big update for free.

The update improves upon two of the already present features of the game, plus over 300 minor improvements. The characters have been rebalanced and combos have been readjusted. The big changes are in Survival Mode and co-op.

If you played Streets of Rage 4 with a friend at launch, you probably figured out about friendly fire pretty quickly. It was a good idea to steer clear of your friend while they pounded on an enemy. With the new update, you can work together a little better. Now, one of you can grab the other and throw them into the air. This opens up possibility for an attack from above and from a greater distance.

Survival Mode was added in the Mr. X Nightmare DLC, but is expanded upon in this update. Custom Survival Mode is not explained in depth, but it is what is sounds like. The standard version threw waves of enemies at players, so being able to tweak the rules and settings will enhance your experience.

Streets of Rage 4 is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
