Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Is Getting Ranked Play in 2023
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched to the gaming public without one of its most wanted features. Fans can jump into the game’s multiplayer right now. However, they will notice that it will not have Ranked Play.
This is not uncommon among CoD installments. After all, this has been the norm for the series for the past several years. Fortunately for Ranked Play fans, the feature is going to appear in the game next year. “Ranked Play arrives in Modern Warfare 2 in 2023,” Treyarch confirmed on social media.
Once the feature goes live, it will include ranked skill divisions, competitive modes, visible skill ratings, a top 250 leaderboard, as ell as competitive rewards. This is good news for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players who are interested in playing against others who are at their same skill level. They can check who the top performers on the leaderboard are. Plus, they can also see their own ratings themselves. At the moment, the level cap is at Rank 55.
“As Ranked Play moves forward we will begin retiring Black Ops Cold War League Play and Vanguard Ranked Play this month,” devs continued. “Players should grab their remaining rewards by November 22nd in both titles.”
Adding Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 means that devs are going to start winding down similar features in the franchise’s previous installments. “The success of these modes has directly contributed to the future of Ranked Play,” they added. “We sincerely thank you for all the data, feedback, and time played that was collected over the past two years.”
Fans have a bittersweet feeling about the feature leaving previous games. However, everyone is well aware of the mark that the feature made in the Call of Duty series as a whole.
