Kiryu Returns in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name

Learn How He Got His White Hair

Tuesday was a wild day for fans of the Like a Dragon series. The Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit Stream announced a wealth of upcoming titles. They shadowdropped Judgment and Lost Judgment on PC, announced Like a Dragon 8, and Like a Dragon: Ishin! To bridge the gap between a few games, they are also developing Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

After Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the series changed up quite a bit. A new main character took the spotlight and the gameplay changed to turn-based combat in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Like a Dragon Gaiden

Spoiler: Kiryu did in fact make an appearance toward the end of the story. If you are wondering what he’s been up to, you will find your answer in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

At the end of The Song of Life, Kiryu faked his death to protect his family. Kiryu has renounced his name, and found a place in a temple. Using the codename Joryu, he takes jobs from a mysterious man. It seems that even faking his death is not enough to keep him out of trouble.

The Man Who Erased His Name will fill in the gaps between The Song of Life and Kiryu’s upcoming appearance in Like a Dragon 8. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in 2023.
