A New Tekken Title was Just Revealed for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC

The Eighth Installment of the Tekken franchise is Coming Soon!

Sony’s latest State of Play event had something special for Tekken fans across the world, on almost every major platform. The next mainline installment of the Tekken franchise – Tekken 8 – is coming. Here’s the full reveal trailer:

According to the developers at Bandai Namco, much of this footage comes from an unfinished version of the game’s story mode. All of which is rendered in-engine.

In other words, all the character models, backgrounds, and effects are the same ones that are used in-game,” the game’s director says in a PlayStation Blog post. “Although this was captured from the story mode, it is not a pre-rendered movie made for the trailer but rather real-time rendered footage, running at 60 frames per second, similar to how you would experience the game in versus battle modes. (Of course, some of the effects, dialogue as well as the camera angle is currently being updated and may change when the game launches).

Though the trailer prominently displays Playstation branding, Tekken 8’s presence won’t be limited to the one console. Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game will come to Xbox Series X users. PC players will also be able to join in on the fun, via Steam.

So, how are you feeling about this latest reveal? Are you excited to get back in the game after Tekken 7? Which characters do you think will make it in? Are there any you’re hoping won’t return? Where will the story go? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below!
