Tekken Teaser at EVO Suggests a New Game or Remake on the Way

The Teasiest Teaser That Ever Teased

The frustrating yet cool things about teasers is that you can make people talk by giving them absolutely nothing. Well, Bandai Namco gave us nothing to talk about this weekend at EVO. The Tekken teaser they released kind of leaves us with no information, just speculation and excitement.

Tekken 7 came to arcades in 2015 and then PC and consoles in 2017. It had been getting new DLC characters every few months until 2021. It seems that a new game is in the works. The teaser shows footage of Kazuya in the first game. Then the footage updates to modern graphics.

The question on everyone’s mind is: are we getting Tekken 8 or a remake of Tekken 1? The shift in graphical style suggests an updated game, but Kazuya’s eye starts to glow red. This is an indication of the Devil inside Kazuya. Normally, that alternate side to him would not show up until Tekken 4, but it is suggested that the Devil had been around since before the events of the first game.

The new Tekken teaser could also imply a direct sequel to Tekken 7, where Kazuya is able to control the Devil inside himself. Tekken 8 has been rumored to be in the works since 2021, when the NVIDIA leak revealed the title. Unfortunately, the 10 seconds of footage shown at EVO just isn’t enough to make a proper prediction.

Tekken 7 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
