Forspoken Devs Make “Strategic” Decision to Delay Game
Forspoken has unfortunately been delayed to 2023. Square Enix and Luminous Productions have confirmed that they decided to move its launch to January 24, 2023. They did not chalk it up to the game not being ready. Instead, they said that it was a “strategic” decision.
“As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the launch date of Forspoken to Janaury 24, 2023,” devs wrote on social media. “All game elements are now complete and development is in its final polishing phase.”
This sounds like the classic delay announcement that the gaming community hears too many times lately. However, it does seem that the game is on track for its release. It could also because they have not hyped the game enough just yet. How the devs worded their announcement may also indicate that they just do not want fans to worry about the quality of the game at launch. They may just need more time to polish the final product than they initially thought.
Moreover, the delay is not too unsurprising for Forspoken fans. After all, devs have been dropping their 2022 release dates left, right, and center since the year started. Still, they want fans to have a bit more patience.
This is actually the second major delay for the game. They originally planned the game to come out in May. Sadly, they admitted that they needed more time to polish the game. They decided to push its release to last fall.
“We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey,” they added. “Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forspoken with you later this summer!”
