The Witcher’s official Twitter account announced the new release window for The Witcher 3 next-gen version for the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5 to be the fourth quarter of 2022. In a Twitter reply from the Global Community Director of CD Projekt RED, it is now also confirmed that the next-gen version of the game will also feature “both expansions and all the previously released DLCs as well as patches. It’s a complete package.”

The development of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 was originally handled by Saber Interactive. However, last month CD Projekt RED had announced that it is taking over the development of the game without offering much explanation as to why and opting to not announce any release window until the studio had the time to assess how much work will need to be done before it is ready for release.

According to Kotaku and online rumors, CD Projekt RED had opted to cut ties with Saber Interactive and take over the development of The Witcher 3’s next-gen version because of Saber Interactive’s Russian origins and due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. CD Projekt Red has declined to comment when asked about these speculations by Kotaku“We have no further comments or statements to make at this time,” said a spokesperson for CDPR.

The Witcher 3’s next-gen version is expected to feature ray tracing with faster loading times, at least 4K with 60fps, and it is rumored to feature specific enhancements for the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controllers with the haptic feedback.

The Witcher 3 has now been available for purchase for 7 years on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the Nintendo Switch, and PC.
