Lost Ark Has a War Against Bots
Lost Ark’s botting problem has been around for quite some time now. Publisher Amazon Games has been pretty transparent about their efforts at eradicating this issue. In fact, just this March, they banned more than a million accounts for running bots. Still, bots are still a massive issue.
“We know that bots have been causing frustration within the community,” devs wrote in a blog post. “We share in that frustration.”
Lost Ark devs also implemented more actions to attempt to get rid of the problem. They tweaked the quest rewards. They also applied some changes to the queueing system. This was actually one of the biggest issues in the game. Because of the presence of bots, real players were forced to wait longer times. Most of the servers were apparently already bot-heavy and would not have enough space for a real player to enter.
Furthermore, they also changed the matchmaking algorithm and applied more filters to the in-game chat feature to target bot spam. It sounds like Amazon has done a lot in their fight against the bots, but they are not even close to being done. “Our work is far from over,” they added.
“We are working on multiple fronts to fight them,” devs continued. “Since Lost Ark launched, we have been fighting a war against the bots infiltrating Arkesia.”
According to the devs, “addressing bots can be especially challenging in free-to-play games.” This is primarily due to the fact that it is very easy to create a new account and enter the game. Fortunately, they have something up their sleeve. They just will not say much about what they are working on to keep the bot users from adapting to the upcoming changes. What fans do know is that Amazon is looking into how they can “combat bots natively at scale.”
