Wheel of Time Gets New Life from GOG & Nightdive Studios

Classic 90’s Game Wheel of Time Is Revived by Nightdive Studio & GOG

Wheel of Time fans will be delighted to know that their favorite classic game from 1999 has launched on GOG. The gaming community can now enjoy the title in its remastered from, courtesy of GOG and Nightdive Studios.

As previously mentioned, the game first came out in 1999. Its back lore is heavily based on the series of epic fantasy novels penned by Robert Jordan. Players will be taking on the role of Elayna Sedai. This particular character is actually not powerful. However, she is a pro at wielding ter’angreal, which are artefacts that have wide-ranging effects.

This skill comes in very handy when an enemy tries to break into the White Tower and tries to help the Dark One escape his otherworldly prison. When the Dark One is freed, it is the task of Wheel of Time players to chase him across the land. By doing this, they find out exactly what he is up to.

At the time of its release, Wheel of Time received relatively decent reviews. However, many fans observed that the project was somewhat overly ambitious. It may have been a good game. However, it was not a good fit to an FPS format. According to multiple fans, the in-game shooting feels basic. This is saying a lot, especially once compared to other contemporary games of today like Unreal or Half-Life.

GOG did majority of the development work on the Wheel of Time remaster, with assistance from Nightdive. The team behind the remastered game added support for 4K and HD resolutions, as well as widescreen displays. Doing this ensured fan that pre-rendered cut scenes will not end up crashing the game. Basically, it is currently as smooth and painless as booting up any modern title.
