Leaked Frostpunk 2 Release Date Is “False”
Frostpunk 2’s release date has reportedly been leaked online. According to the leak, the upcoming game is due to launch on January 2nd of 2024. However, Developer 11 Bit Studios has taken to social media to inform the gaming community that this information is bogus.
“As we heard today, information about the Frostpunk 2 launch date leaked into the public space,” devs wrote on social media. “We assure you that any pieces of information that are not coming straight from the administration offices are false.”
“Liars shall be punished,” they added.
Devs first revealed Frostpunk 2 to the gaming public last August. The sequel picks up after the events that transpired in the previous installment. The story continues following the downfall of coal as world’s fuel source and centers around the burgeoning oil industry.
Players will take on the role of the leader of a barren, resource-hungry city. They will have to make some awful choices as well as difficult sacrifices in their pursuit of the emerging fossil fuel.
Frostpunk 2’s leaked 2024 date may possibly be just a placeholder and not an actual scheduled release for the game. Devs have to put in a date whenever they add a game to the Steam store. This seems to be the case for 11 Bit Studios’ upcoming title. Even if it is fake, the placeholder date of a game is only intended to be visible within Valve’s back-end systems. However, a recent change to the Steam API has allowed these dates to be visible to third party tracking services.
Unfortunately, Frostpunk 2 devs has not set an official launch window for the game just yet. At the moment, what is clear to fans is that the game will be out on PC via Steam, Epic Games, and GOG.
