Dying Light Introduces Aliens and Astronauts in New Low Gravity Event

First Zombies, Now Aliens

As if the city of Harran didn’t already have enough to deal with, the new unique Low Gravity event is bringing invaders from outer space to Dying Light‘s already battered setting. Alien visitors are now laying siege to the game’s setting, making massive changes to the laws of physics and straight-up removing fall damage.

What does this mean? Well, for starters, players will be able to jump far higher than before during the event–and fall much slower, take no fall damage, and use a grappling hook to quickly pull themselves towards a target. The result is designed to feel like you’re moving around in, well, low gravity.

Sounds awesome to us, but unfortunately, the infected already found throughout Harran are also being affected by unknown cosmic forces. The bad news is that they won’t be affected by fall damage, either. The good news is that they’ll also fall much slower and an enterprising player could use an explosion or dropkick attack to launch them sky-high.

Also available during the Low Gravity event is the Astronaut DLC bundle, which contains some space-themed items related to the event. Specifically, the Astronaut bundle will feature:

  • Laser rifle – The V-23 Eraser – with laser ammo and a chance to burn enemies
  • Stasis pistol – The V-40 Suspender – that’ll put enemies in stasis with every last shell in the magazine
  • Machete – The V-27 Shifter – that changes its effect after several consecutive hits
  • Outfit – The V-9 Defender Suit – with fall damage reduction
  • Buggy skin – The V-39 Star Rover

Like previous Dying Light events, the Low Gravity event will be accompanied by challenges that will reward players for completion. Players who defeat 100 enemies participating in the local event will be awarded the V-27 Chameleon Machete (gold). Meanwhile, in the global event, eliminating 100,000,000 infected will lead to players receiving 3 King upgrades.

Players will also have the chance to spot changes within Harran, including a crashed alien ship. The event will come to a close on 01.09.2021, 19:00 CEST.

Dying Light is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Dying Light 2: Stay Human will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on December 7th, 2021.
