Psychonauts 2 Will Have an Invincibility Toggle That I Will Be Using

Untouchable

There’s a weird competitive spirit throughout gaming that we all engage in at some point. Whether it is getting achievements or trophies, having great K/D ratios, topping the leaderboards, making sweet headshot compilations, or beating a game on the hardest difficulties. We all have to remember that at the end of the day, the real winners are people who have fun playing games, no matter their global accomplishments.

On Twitter, Xbox sent everyone a friendly reminder that “Beating the game on the lowest difficulty is still beating the game“. Wholesome. Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine chimed in, announcing that “If you beat Psychonauts 2 with the invincibility toggle on, you still beat P2.”

Psychonauts 2

So, that’s something. Apparently, players will have the option to not take any damage. My first question is, will it negate achievements? If not, I am using the hell out of it, unapologetically.

The Psychonauts games are super stylish, thoughtful, deep pieces of media. It doesn’t matter if you need the invincibility to progress in the game or if you only want to experience the story and characters; it’s there for you.

Double Fine also proceeded to dunk on super competitive, elite, try-hard gamers. Not that being really good at a game is bad, but degrading others who aren’t as good at you makes you a bad gamer. That’s the rules.

Anyway, back to the invincibility thing. Hopefully, Double Fine will give us a better idea of the scope of this option. Like, is it God Mode? Infinite health? Again, do I still get my achievements? Psychonauts 2 is slated for a 2021 release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
