Thereโs Nothing to Fear, Promiseโฆ
Resident Evil Village launched last month to incredible critical and commercial acclaim, and Capcom has definitely taken notice. On Day 3 of E3 2021 during the companyโs showcase, Resident Evil producer Tsuyoshi Kanda announced that work on DLC for Resident Evil Village has already begun. He did not share any specific details, unfortunately. More information will be coming soon, but until then, fans will have to speculate about what the DLC expansions could include. Our personal wish is for a DLC campaign focused on Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, the gameโs breakout villainess. Thereโs already a mod where you can play as Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil 3โwhy not make something like that official? Even if Capcom would rather not let gamers step into her giant shoes, many players would love a second opportunity to run around her manor house, trying to evade her notice. Or not trying very hard, as the case may be.
Tsuyoshi Kanda also discussed the upcoming Resident Evil RE:Verse, a multiplayer experience that owners of Resident Evil Village will get free access to. Apparently, RE:Verse will go live in the next month, so players will soon be able to take on the roles of their favorite Resident Evil heroes and battle their favorite Resident Evil bioweaponsโor vice versa. Either way, it promises to be a ton of fun. We know we canโt wait to get our hands on a playable Nemesis.
Whether you liked or disliked Resident Evil Villageโs many twists, it canโt be denied that this title had a huge impact on the industry. It will probably go on to affect the future of Resident Evil, as rumor has it that production on Resident Evil 9 has already begun. We wouldโve liked to see a hint of that from this yearโs E3, but confirmation that Capcom has more coming down the pipe for Resident Evil Village is also welcome.
Resident Evil Village is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
