Pokémon Go Shares Details on May Special Weekend and Luminous Legends Y Events

Yveltal, the Destruction Pokemon, Will Arrive in Pokemon Go Later This Month

May is setting up to be another big month for Pokemon Go–not only do we have Swablu Community Day scheduled for Saturday, May 15th, but two other huge events are also coming down the pipeline. On Tuesday, May 18th, at 10:00 AM local time, the Legendary Pokemon Yveltal will be making its grand debut in five-star raids as part of the Luminous Legends Y Event. Plus, Dark-type Pokemon will begin appearing more often in the wild and Pancham will have a chance to hatch from Strange Eggs. Unfortunately, Team GO Rocket has caught wind of this and they’re up to their old tricks again. Even more Shadow Pokémon will be out there in the first week of the event and Team GO Rocket has upped their game. Players will have to prepare for new battle strategies, new type specializations, and even the possibility of being dragged into team battles.

Part 2 of the Luminous Legends Y Event will arrive on May 25th. It will introduce Sylveon to the game and add a host of Eevee and Eeveelution-related Field Research tasks, avatar items, and raids. Later on in the month, Niantic will be holding a Pokémon GO Special Weekend event together with different partners around the world: Verizon in the US, 7-Eleven Mexico in Mexico, and Yoshinoya in Japan. Redeem an event ticket earned from these partners and you’ll gain access to double EXP for catching Pokemon, event-exclusive Timed Research, an increased chance of getting Lucky Pokemon from trading or becoming Lucky Friends with other players, an exclusive medal, and more.

The Pokémon GO Special Weekend event will last from Saturday, May 29th, 2021, at 12:00 AM to Sunday, May 30th, 2021, at 11:59 PM local time. Check out this post for more information.
