Pokemon Go’s June Community Day Will Be Focused on Gible

Tiny Shark Dragons? We Want 50

Pokemon Go has announced the subject on June’s Community Day event: Gible, the Land Shark Pokemon. This tiny Dragon/Ground-type has been in the game for a while, but it’s very difficult to find, so the upcoming event will be a great way to get your hands on some Gibles. And maybe a Gabite or two, or even a Garchomp if the odds are in your favor. The announcement was made over Twitter, well in advance of the usual Community Day info–in fact, it was made so far in advance that fans are still waiting on May’s Community Day event, which will be dedicated to Swablu. Not that we’re complaining. A Gible Community Day is so big we could use the advance notice to arrange our schedule.

The Tweet itself is short and cryptic, reading simply: “Gible. June 6. That’s it. That’s the tweet.”

Niantic posted a follow-up soon after, encouraging players to stay tuned for more information, which implies that there’s more coming down the pipeline. What is Niantic planning, exactly? Good question. There are two main possibilities: first, as Garchomp is an incredibly powerful (and cool) Pokemon, a saturation of Garchomps has the potential to shake up the game’s PVP meta, and the Community Day event will somehow be taking this into account.

Second, Garchomp isn’t the only new friend players will have the opportunity to make in June. It’s been a while since a Legendary or pseudo-Legendary was involved in a Community Day event. There’s a chance the Gible family will be bringing a friend when they arrive.

Whatever ends up happening in June, we’re just happy to get a chance at all the Gibles our bags can carry. Happy Community Day in advance!
