Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood Has One Powerful Launch Trailer

Time to Unleash Your Rage

That’s right, after approximately a full eternity of build-up, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is hitting shelves today. As you might have guessed, given how closely we’ve been covering this game, we’re a tad bit excited. If you want to see our thoughts on the game, our review is already up, but let’s be real here: you want to see our thoughts on Earthblood‘s launch trailer. And no wonder–that video is action-packed, surreal, and kinda reminds us of musical theater, which leads us to conclude that more musicals should have werewolves. Actually, more stuff should have werewolves, period. Werewolves are awesome.

If any trailer could be described as ‘mouth-watering’, it would be this one. Just look at those high-contrast reds and blacks. The silhouettes. The burning forests, rusting metal, and highly stylized fight scenes. Every time a werewolf appears, our hearts leap into our throats. For the first time, Cahal as a character–his design, his beliefs, his rage–takes center stage. We’ll admit, we weren’t super invested in Cahal as a person before we watched this video, but everything about its presentation sinks us deeper into his worldview. And those shots of werewolves maiming people! Wow. Just… wow.

The press release describes the game as “a violent beat’em up based on the three forms that Cahal can transform into, allowing for different approaches and varied play styles,” which sounds pretty amazing, not gonna lie. Those three forms are Homid (your basic big bald action hero guy, specializing in stealthy take-downs and hacking), Lupus (a cute, fluffy wolf that can slip into small spaces and explore places humans can’t reach), and Crinos (the werewolf’s warform–half wolf, half man, all rage). You’ll have to juggle all three of these forms and their related mechanics to take down the corrupt oil company, Endron, before it renders the planet uninhabitable in service to its malicious patron, the Wyrm.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is now available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
