FIFA 21 Topples Valhalla in UK Sales
While Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sold exceedingly well going into the Holiday season, it looks like EA Sports’ FIFA 21 is Boxing Day’s biggest hit in the UK. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War barely rounded out the rest of the top five in UK sales for Boxing Day, showing that it might have less retention than previous Call of Duty titles. FIFA 21 is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with some retail outlets still offering Boxing Week pricing on it.
The following titles are Boxing Day’s biggest sellers in the UK:
- FIFA 21
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Just Dance 2021
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Minecraft (Switch)
While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is Ubisoft’s latest and greatest action-adventure, it’s stunning to see FIFA continue to remain so popular in the UK despite some questionable Ultimate Team practices. When compared to the other titles in the top three for Boxing Day sales in the UK, FIFA 21 is just another installment in a series that shows incremental improvements with each title. Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to show dominance around the world, while Assassin’s Creed Valhalla remains well ahead of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
Previous to the most recent UK sales charts, Cyberpunk 2077 was in the top three in sales, but it’s clear that the controversy it suffered at launch has hurt unit sales despite the initial sales. With the retail lifespan of Super Mario 3D All-Stars coming to a close, it’s no big surprise to see the game continue to be in the top ten. Which of these top sellers did you get over the holidays?
