Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Curbs CoD’s Streak
With Christmas coming up, last week was the final week for consumers to make their purchases before the last-minute shoppers come and take over, and Ubisoft has made a killing in the UK. According to official UK sales charts, Assassin’s Creed has topped Call of Duty in sales the week ahead of Christmas for the first time ever. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Google Stadia, and PC.
According to the sales charts for the UK during the Christmas week, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War came in at a close second, while Cyberpunk 2077 rounded out the rest of the top ten. In order beyond that, the following were the UK’s best-selling games during Christmas sales week: FIFA 21, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Just Dance 2021, Ring Fit Adventure, and Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla edging out Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War in Christmas sales week, could Assassin’s Creed simply be beginning its success story? Considering Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a time-sensitive release, it’s no surprise to see that combo pack in the top 10 of Christmas sales in the UK, but it is a bit of a surprise to see it at the very bottom. Cyberpunk 2077 has also been the center of some controversy lately, so some of these purchases made ahead of Christmas may be returned after the Holidays like so many others have been.
