Hearthstone Veteran Departs Blizzard Entertainment

Hearthstone Just Lost Its Principal Narrative Designer

Blizzard Entertainment has lost several veteran developers recently, and that theme has continued with the departure of Hearthstone Principal Narrative Designer Dave Kosak. Kosak has been with Blizzard Entertainment for around twelve years and the Narrative Designer will be jumping ship to Deviation Games to become their creative director. While he’s leaving Blizzard Entertainment, there’s no indication that Dave Kosak holds any ill will towards the publisher. Hearthstone is available right now for free on Mac, PC, and Mobile.

Hearthstone Galakrond's Awakening

Dave Kosak recently took to Twitter to announce his departure from Blizzard Entertainment, stating “big announcement time! After 12 remarkable years and countless adventures, I am moving on from Blizzard Entertainment. The other week I bid a fond farewell to the orc, who is dutifully wearing his mask. I will very much miss all of my Blizzard colleagues. If you follow me because of Hearthstone, no need to worry! Last week we announced a great expansion, a new mode, and new progression/rewards. Believe me when I say that’s only the beginning. Great things are in the works!”

“Of course, Shadowlands is around the corner for World of Warcraft,” continued Dave Kosak. “I will be adventuring right alongside you. I am honored to have contributed to the Warcraft universe, and excited for what’s to come. What’s next for me? I’m pleased to announce that I’ve taken on an important role at Deviation Games! We are building… something secret. But amazing. I can’t say any more, but I promise: It’ll make you go ‘Whoa.’” While he hasn’t given us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Deviation Games title, we’re looking forward to seeing what the studio is cooking up with Kosak’s help.
