World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Releasing Next Month

Blizzard Confirms the New Shadowlands Launch Date

Blizzard Entertainment has officially confirmed the new release date for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands which was initially expected to already be out. The launch date planned for October 26th has now been confirmed to be November 23rd, giving the World of Warcraft team an extra month to smooth out the Shadowlands experience. The team has used the extra time to polish the endgame experience, overhaul combat and rewards in the Maw and rework Covenant systems. World of Warcraft is available right now for PC and Mac, with a recurring monthly subscription required to play the full game.

“Since we first told you about our decision to delay, we’ve used the time to further polish the expansion and shore up the endgame,” said Blizzard Entertainment’s John Hight in an official statement. “Including overhauling the combat and rewards in the Maw, and reworking the Covenant systems to make your choice more immediately impactful and have clearer long-term goals. Now the team is in a great position to get things the rest of the way to the finish line before November 23, and as always, we’re committed to working with you to improve the game for as long as you’re out there playing it.”

With the launch of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands coming on November 23rd now, many fans are wondering when they can expect to see the Shadowlands pre-patch Scourge invasion event. The Scourge event will now take place on November 10th, bringing a fun world challenge to World of Warcraft gamers of all levels to take on. This event will apparently transpire over the course of the thirteen days between the pre-patch and the official Shadowlands launch, giving players some time to experience it before the event disappears for another several years.
