Apex Legends Coming to Steam With Season 7

You Won’t Need Origin for Apex Legends on PC Anymore

PC fans of Apex Legends have been using Origin to boot up their favorite battle royale, but that all changes with the release of Season 7: Ascension. Starting on November 4th, the release date of Season 7, Apex Legends fans on PC will be able to download the game through Steam. In case the better platform wasn’t enough, Respawn Entertainment is offering three free weapon charms to people who give the Steam version of Apex Legends a shot. Apex Legends is available to play for free right now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch port expected in the near future.

Apex Legends was recently updated to support crossplay and the Steam version of the game will continue to allow PC players to play the battle royale with friends on consoles and vice versa. Steam will apparently offer cross-progression for PC fans who have been playing through Origin, allowing them to easily switch between the two clients. EA hasn’t said much about Apex season 7 yet, but a new trailer for the upcoming season of Apex Legends is expected today.

In order to receive the three free weapon charms Respawn Entertainment is offering with the Apex Legends release on Steam, gamers will have to log in through Steam at any point during season 7. Alongside Steam support with Season 7 of Apex Legends joins a Champion Edition of the game which brings one new skin to each of the currently playable characters. A new character joins the fight with Season 7, but Respawn Entertainment hasn’t revealed much about Horizon or the new map known as Olympus.
