Apex Legends Crossplay Coming Next Week

PS4 and Xbox One Gamers Can Play Apex Legends Together Soon

Respawn Entertainment has officially confirmed when crossplay will be coming to Apex Legends. According to the developer, cross-platform play will be enabled in Apex Legends on October 6th, allowing PS4, Xbox One, and PC gamers to all play together. Crossplay will be enabled as a default when it comes to Apex Legends, but gamers can disable the feature if they don’t want to be matched with gamers on other consoles. Apex Legends is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version coming soon.

Alongside the upcoming Aftermarket Collection Apex Legends event will be cross-platform play between Xbox One, PS4, and PC. That means not only will loads of new content be added to the free-to-play battle royale, but gamers can play through the new content with friends on other platforms. The addition of crossplay is apparently a beta phase, suggesting Respawn Entertainment will have some kinks to iron out before crossplay is out of beta. With the upcoming release of Xbox Series X/S and PS5, it’ll be interesting to see if Apex Legends crossplay will be cross-gen.

“Since the launch of Apex Legends, cross-play has been one of the most requested features from our players who want the ability to play with their friends on other platforms,” said Apex Legends Game Director Chad Grenier. “During the cross-play beta, players will have full access to cross-play functionality while we collect data, test the feature at scale, and most importantly, listen to you, the fans, for feedback.” Apex Legends fans who choose to disable crossplay may have to wait through longer queues since it’s enabled by default.
