Dinky Dungeon Is Very Real, Coming This December

It’s “Charmingly Ugly” You See

In an age where graphics are getting so good as to be indistinguishable from real life, it’s important to take a step back and appreciate just how far we’ve come. One easy way to achieve this is through Dinky Dungeon, an arena shooter coming to Steam this December.

Dinky Dungeon

If the above screenshot (and the trailer below) were not abundantly clear, this is not a pretty game. The developer, a one-man studio known as NAISU, calls the graphics “charmingly ugly.” If that’s the case, then the animation and the sound effects and the backgrounds are also incredibly charming.

The uhhhhhh striking visuals aside, Dinky Dungeon looks like an utterly madcap ride with the brake lines cut. Also the steering wheel is on fire and the driver is dead. Enemy sprites appear cobbled together from a random assortment of art styles. All of the sound effects are done by the developer and his cat, which is immediately apparent in the trailer. I cannot overstate how important it is that you watch the trailer in question. I had to do so three times, just to really absorb what was happening on-screen. Dinky Dungeon is coming to Steam on December 15th, 2020.
