SWERY Apologizes for Scene in Deadly Premonition 2

Specifically It’s Portrayal of Trans People

SWERY has posted an apology on Twitter regarding Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise. It seems a trans character in the game is repeatedly deadnamed, which the developer is going to directly address with some rewrites. One scene in particular is referenced, though we don’t know exactly how much will be re-written.

You can find the Twitter post here, which SWERY wrote directly (using Google Translate). The exact issue isn’t addressed in the apology, though Gamesindustry.biz did some digging on the issue. SWERY does go into some detail about his course of action going forward, however:

“Some scenes will be sanity checked by a team that included diversity. And I will rewrite that scene ASAP.” There’s no timeline on this project, though one assumes that scene rewrites will require some intensive work hours to complete. Said timeline will run even longer if voice acting and character model adjustments need to be made. If you’re curious about the game itself, you can check out our review here.
