Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Just Lost Its Creative Director

Ashraf Ismail Has Departed as Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed

Creative director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ashraf Ismail, has officially left his role as director to focus on personal issues. While wishing his colleagues all the best in his departure, Ismail gave credit to the “talented, passionate people” working on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title. Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Ismail will be taking a leave of absence, but that the team is committed to delivering a great game in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is going to be a multi-generational AC title that will release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and PC later this year.

While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it’s possible that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be hit with a delay after losing such an important member of the team at this stage of development. Ashraf Ismail has been a director and writer for Ubisoft on several Assassin’s Creed titles, most notably Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

“There are hundreds of talented, passionate people striving to build an experience for you that do not deserve to be associated with this,” said Ashraf Ismail, referring to some allegations against him that have recently surfaced. “I wish them all the best.” While Ismail may be doing the right thing in stepping aside to sort out his personal issues, it’s likely that the team has taken a big hit after losing such a key member at this stage in the development process.

Ashraf Ismail is stepping down from the project to take a leave of absence,” said an official Ubisoft statement.” The development team is committed to delivering a great game in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.”
