Pokemon Pink May Have Accompanied Yellow as a Mid-Gen Installation
According to a known Pokemon historian named DrLavaYT, there’s evidence in source code that Pokemon Pink existed in the past. While the game never released, it may have been intended to accompany Pokemon Yellow as a mid-gen refresh before being scrapped. The source code of Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Yellow apparently unveil evidence of the lost Pokemon Pink according to DrLavaYT. While Pokemon Pink would’ve released on the Game Boy, Pokemon Sword & Shield have released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch recently, with an expansion pass adding new content to both games.
“New Pokemon Leak: There’s been a new leak of Gen 1 development material, including reference to Pokemon Pink, a possible scrapped companion to Yellow,” said DrLavaYT. “I tweeted bits & pieces today, but I’ll publish a full article soon on my site http://lavacutcontent.com. I’ll keep you posted.” Pokemon Pink would have likely followed Ash with a Clefairy akin to the original manga of the series but instead only Yellow released, following the Pokemon anime more closely. It’s currently unknown if Pokemon Pink would have followed the anime story similar to Yellow or feature its own story.
While we’re aware that the original Pokemon anime was intended to have Ash adventure with his trusty Clefairy, it seems like that was changed in both the anime and the games if DrLavaYT is to be believed. It would’ve been interesting to see a Game Boy title that contrasted Yellow like Pink would’ve, similar to how Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee released for the Nintendo Switch. The original Pokemon source code was recently shared on 4Chan and being the Lost Pokemon Historian, DrLavaYT tore it apart for more information.
