Apex Legends’ Bloodhound Finally Works as Intended
Update 4.1 which added System Override to Apex Legends also fixed a long-standing issue with Bloodhound. The patch includes many new adjustments to the character to make him more of a recon character, the originally intended purpose of Bloodhound. The radius of their tactical ability called Eye of the Allfather has been increased three times and the range will now encompass a broader area as a result. Apex Legends is free to play on Xbox One, PS4 and PC now, with System Override bringing fresh content for gamers to unlock.
To balance the new buff to Bloodhound’s Eye of the Allfather, Respawn Entertainment has increased the cooldown time on it, making it usable less often. The intent in expanding the radius of the ability is for gamers to use it before a fight to locate enemies, not during a fight to keep track of them. “The intent is that we want Bloodhound players to come upon a town and maybe see some markers and then use [Eye of the Allfather] to scan the town,” Respawn lead game designer Carlos Pineda said during a recent stream.
Bloodhound was originally intended to be a recon character like Pathfinder and Crypto but because of the short radius of Eye of the Allfather, they were being used as offensive characters. Respawn Entertainment apparently intends to better highlight the differences between recon characters and support, offense, etc. If gamers are using Eye of the Allfather to locate a squad, then using Beast of the Hunt to hunt them down, they’ll be using Bloodhound for Respawn’s intended purpose.
