Jessica and Tyler Won’t Settle for Anything Less Than Perfect
When popular Fortnite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Belvin announced he was leaving Twitch to join rival platform Mixer the news was met with mixed reactions. Some thought the streamer was selling out while others offered their continued support through the move. In a recent interview with Business Insider, his manager and wife, Jessica Belvins, has opened up about the change.
Many fans thought the move was for money but Jessica insisted that was not the case. Jessica said it was the contract and legal issues that prompted the leave. The newest contract would’ve restricted licencing opportunities. The team wanted to grow outside gaming deals and according to Jessica, Twitch wouldn’t allow it.
On top of that, the choice also came in part because of Ninja’s mental health. The streamer’s chatroom on Twitch had become “pretty toxic” according to Jessica. “I could tell, as his wife, the last few months on Twitch, he just didn’t seem like the Ninja that I knew,” Jessica said. “He didn’t seem as enthusiastic, as loud, as hyped-up about wins and motivated to stream. It really seemed like he was kind of losing himself and his love for streaming.”
He seems much happier on Mixer, Jessica said that “He’s back to that energetic, pumped-up Ninja.”
But this move isn’t the last news we’ll be hearing from Ninja and his team. A collab with Adidas on sneakers, a new book, cameos in movies and TV, along with a hint at the Super Bowl are all on the horizon for the streamer.
But Jessica insisted that they are staying loyal to fans. They don’t want to turn away from the people that have helped Ninja reach such high levels of success. “The community’s really No. 1. We always want to make sure that the people who have us in this position in the first place — the fans — that they’re happy and that they still feel part of Team Ninja.”
