Turns Out Bully 2 Leaks Are Just a Joke

Just a Polygon Joke

The original Bully game was released 13 years ago in 2006. From that point onwards fans of the game have all been chomping at the bit to see another Bully game. Rumors have popped up here and there but nothing that appeared to be legit. However, a week ago fans of the Bully game were convinced that they had stumbled across the Holy Grail of leaks and insider information. Bully 2 was essentially confirmed. Well, it turns out that this evidence that proved that Bully 2 was deep into the development stages were just a joke.

Last weekend Polygon wrote an article that claimed there was a Bully easter egg in the new DLC of Grand Theft Auto V. The URL for the article read that “bully-sequel-announced-fall-2020-news-embargoed-do-not-publish.” This made a lot of people think that they had leaked the announcement of Bully 2.

But, of course, this URL was put there just to mess around with people. And it worked quite well. Owen S. Good a writer at Polygon was the master troll behind all of this. He said that the wording of the URL was just a dumb joke and a “dumb idea”. Polygon took to Twitter in order to save face. They tweeted, “We put a joke URL in this story, and mea culpa, folks thought it was real. For the record, it was a joke — a bad one — and the writer behind it is feeling very regretful.”

As disappointing as this news is, it does not mean that there is not a Bully 2 on the way. We really have no way of knowing. The Bully series might just not be suitable for today’s climate. We can only imagine how much flak Rockstar would get for making a Bully sequel. A lot has changed since 2006.
