And Another One
Just yesterday, we saw evidence that NetherRealm Studios has plans for Terminator to join the Mortal Kombat 11 roster. This came in the form of an ad on Google. Today, the same thing happened with Ash Williams. More Google searches yield an ad for Mortal Kombat 11. While it is entirely possible that this is a wonderful coincidence, NetherRealm has yet to officially announce either of these characters. However, because of previous datamining ventures, it is all but confirmed that Mortal Kombat 11 Ash Williams and Terminator DLC is on the way.
Ash Williams seems to be popping up in games quite a bit lately. Ash is a playable survivor in Dead by Daylight and apparently, there will be a new Evil Dead game. Maybe this whole business with leaking ads could be Ed Boon, behind the scenes, pulling strings. He did after all say he would reveal the next DLC characters if a stolen car at E3 was found. Spoiler: it was found. There is another theory of my own though. While I trust the code found by the dataminers and the characters are coming eventually, the ads themselves might be fabricated.
Ads have a way of forming themselves to your specifications, everyone has dealt with those. Sexy singles waiting for you in [your area], Facebook ads for things you search on Google, ads adapt to results they think you will be more likely to click on. These ads could very well be similar stories, but they are being taken down pretty quickly and deliberately. Until Ed Boon or NetherRealm releases official trailers or announcements, these characters are just rumors. Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and is development for Google Stadia.
