Neil Druckmann Plays With the Last of Fan’s Patience
Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann revealed that the ending scene of the upcoming sequel to 2013’s The Last of Us has been filmed, which means the game is likely closer to release than ever.

The writer/director also revealed last week that Laura Bailey had wrapped filming just last week – she’ll be playing a new character that hasn’t been revealed yet.
Although, performance capture is often done out of order like regular films are, and is usually one of the first aspects of the game to be finished before the gameplay itself is finalized and polished. There could still be a lot of footage left to film, and knowing game development, a hell of a lot more to finish. Neil could also just be messing with us, as all the page says is “cut to black,” and that’s something you don’t exactly film so much as edit.
The Last of Us Part II still doesn’t have a release date, though recent listings claim that it could be “coming soon.” Which, of course, is what they all say, about all of the games that have been announced. Naughty Dog has also taken the “when we’re ready” stance regarding a timeline of news for the game, though we’ve recently been dealt some multiplayer details and a sweet poster of Joel with a wolf from last September.
The Last of Us Part II has been slated for PS4 over the past couple years, but considering the first details of the PlayStation 5 were revealed earlier this week, it could end up becoming a dual-platform title for Sony. Let us know what you think in the comments!
