Game Informer Australia Is Closing Down

Game Informer’s Australian Magazine Will Be Ceasing Production

Game Informer Australia is going to close down and one of its editors, David Milner, recently announced that he was stepping down from the job. According to Milner, due to GameStop failing to find its own new buyer, EB Games (which owns Game Informer Australia and is a subsidiary of GameStop) had to make some cost cuts.

“The American version of the magazine will be sold [in Australia] instead,” Milner explained in a Facebook post. “It is a great magazine, filled with the work of fantastic journalists, and I urge people to continue supporting it. This decision has nothing to do with the U.S. Game Informer team, a group that has never made me feel any less than part of the family. I’m going to miss working with them an awful lot.”

This major Australian gaming magazine closing is the latest in a series of unfortunate developments for GameStop. Months after failing to find a buyer, the gaming retail company reported a 2018 net loss of $673 million earlier this month.
