Insomniac Celebrates 25 Years of Sleepless Nights Making Games
Insomniac Games, the developer behind the Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance series, as well as last year’s lauded Spider-Man game, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
In the above video, Insomniac CEO and Founder Ted Price thanks the fans for all their support over the past 25 years, and reminisces about some of the studio’s early days and the challenges they’ve faced along the way, before promising “more memories and cool stuff all year long.”
The developer has seen a lot in its 25 years of service, starting out as Xtreme Software in the mid-90s (which is the most 90s name for a software company imaginable), finding success with Spyro the Dragon in 1998 – a character who has gone on to become an icon in the medium, the Ratchet and Clank series and its (not so great) film adaptation, and releasing one of last year’s most talked about titles in a year full of heavy hitters, Spider-Man for PS4. Insomniac has also been named one of the best places to work in America by the Society for Human Resource Management, as well as Fortune business magazine.
Here’s hoping we see 25 more years of Insomniac titles, specifically Sunset Overdrive 2 dammit!
