Cyberpunk 2077 Side Activities Come With “Love and Care”

Can You Raise Hell in Cyberpunk 2077?

CD Projekt RED (CDPR) is a studio that emphasizes narrative, which they plan to demonstrate in Cyberpunk 2077That said, their newest IP is still an open-world experience. With the inevitable GTA comparisons, fans are rightfully curious about whether or not the world will be goof-proof. Can you wreak random havoc in Night City?

In an interview with GamingBolt, CDPR level designer Mile Tost responded to questions about what is applicable in Cyberpunk 2077’s open world. While there are plenty of activities, they’ve been crafted with “a lot of love and care.” The game is story-driven, therefore unlikely to let the player do anything that will disrupt the narrative road. Not to say side-activities won’t allow you to goof around.

“Our game will provide a lot of side activities for you to engage in outside the main quest,” Tost said. “Whether it’s side quests or encounters waiting for you on the streets of Night City, it will be crafted by us with a lot of love and care.”

“Whilst it’s very humbling to us to have our game be compared to GTA, with Cyberpunk 2077, we are striving for a different, story-driven experience,” Tost added. “That’s not to say we will stop players from goofing around.”

As we saw in the Cyberpunk 2077 demo, gameplay implied that players can draw their weapon at any time. Since the world responds to your actions, there could be any number of repercussions—or good times—involved.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and will see North American distribution through Warner Bros. Recently, the devs of CD Projekt RED partnered with a multiplayer studio for a yet unannounced collaboration. Expect updates in due course.
