Warner Bros. Will Distribute Cyberpunk 2077, Which May Come in 2019

Old Witcher Partners Return

Polish studio CD Projekt RED will team up with Warner Bros. for the distribution of Cyberpunk 2077 in North America. Of course, this isn’t the first time the companies have cooperated – WB distributed The Witcher 2 and 3 in the west, previously.

Considering the alleged scope of Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR will maintain their partnership with Warner. The company is no stranger to publication in the western hemisphere, having published AAA and indie titles for years. Since they put faith in the studio’s earlier work, it’s no surprise they’re back for the most ambitious title.

“We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence,” said Michal Nowakowski, CDPR’s SVP of business development. “Cyberpunk 2077 is our biggest and most ambitious project to date, and I’m really looking forward to all the amazing things we can achieve together.”

With the announcement of publication partners, one might suspect that Cyberpunk 2077 already has a release date. It might release as early as 2019, if a tweet from Turkish publisher Bilkom is any indication. The tweet no longer there, but VG247 Turkey managed to capture a screenshot before it disappeared. That fact, alone, suggests someone may have gotten into trouble for spilling the beasts. Since the tweet is only in Turkish, and nothing’s confirmed until it’s confirmed, feel free to take the news with a grain of salt.

2019 seems like a sensible and practical release date for Cyberpunk 2077. Even after a release date is set, however, there’s no promise CDPR won’t delay the game to add some extra polish. They did that for Witcher 3, and they’re sticklers for perfection. Time will tell if the tweet holds any water. Thoughts?
