Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Partner With Multiplayer Studio

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Planned to Have Multiplayer But Details Are Scarce

CD Projekt Red, the developers of the upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077, announced recently that they’ve partnered up with Digital Scapes, a studio that specializes in “AAA multiplayer console and PC game development, development tool creation, asset production, and cloud computing.”

Digital Scapes has worked on several AAA games in the past such as developing the PvP invasion mode for 2015’s Dying Light and Warhammer 40,000.

While CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have multiplayer, they haven’t spoken much about details so far.

“We have multiplayer in R&D, but the game we’re shipping to you, the game you’re going to buy is the single-player experience,” Patrick Mills, a quest designer for the game, told Eurogamer at E3 2018. Mills also added that multiplayer might come into play after the game launches.

It should be mentioned that the official press release for the partnership announcement makes no mention of Digital Scapes working on the multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077 but their specialization in that field does point to it being a possibility.

Notably, the press release states that the studio will aid CD Projekt Red “on creating and optimizing technological solutions for use in the development” for Cyberpunk 2077.
